PACK EM, STACK EM AND RACK EM
This program was designed in partnership with the Lets Group and was specifically designed to address the skills shortage in the Transport and Distribution Industry.

The program involves components from Certificate III in Transport and Distribution plus a Forklift licence as well as training on how to load and unload trucks and how to tie down and secure a load. The program is followed by work experience for all the participants and has been conducted across the Sureway Employment and Training network in regional NSW.

Transport and Distrubution Programs Shepparton and Wodonga

The Goulburn Valley has long been recognised as Australia’s food bowl, supplying a large majority of the nation’s stone fruit requirements. With Australia’s largest concentration of food processors and a huge dairy industry, the Goulburn Valley boasts one of Victoria’s prime transport regions.

Recognising this, the Greater Shepparton City Council’s Economic Development Department is please to announce the introduction of a coordinator, Darryl Herring, to drive the development of a Transport and Distribution Industry Support Unit (TDISU). The TDISU is a new initiative from the Victorian Government to help combat the skill shortages within the transport and logistics industry. The TDISU will, in conjunction with the local transport sector, develop employment strategies to best fill these shortages. A consultative committee comprising of a broad spectrum of industry champions will be established to provide expert guidance and advice. Working closely with industry, training providers and employment agencies the TDISU will offer at least four programs attempting to alleviate these employment gaps. Lifting the profile of the industry is a core component of this unit and there will be significant attempts to establish the transport and logistics industry as a worthy career choice. Local Employment and Training Services was awarded the contract to undertake two of these programs.
